39% adults of world population in 2016 were either overweight or obese. This would probably have gone up a notch or two by today. 8% of global deaths were attributed to obesity in 2017.

We all either have been there, are there or know plenty of people who fall in this category. People who have started feeling heat of high blood pressure, diabetes, knee pain, bad or almost no stamina, low fertility and many more. Looks and all, let’s not even talk about it.

Running, one of the most easy to maintain exercise

I was there as well till 2018 and had all of the above symptoms barring diabetes. I tried even before but didn’t succeed but in 2018 between Jan to Mar I lost 15 Kg. I was 84 and went down to 69. From 38 waist size to 32.

How I did it?? If I have to account only one reason for it; Obsession. I was obsessed with it. Anyone who want to get rid of some Kgs need to be obsessed with it.

It’s not easy to drop sugar for 3 months but you’d need it. Going to gym and bettering yourself from last day, will take a lot of motivation. Once you finish your cardio and gym session you should be drenched in sweat and you should absolutely love the feeling.

A fitness tracker, which you follow like mad. Your weekly step, distance and calorie count should be followed like a target as your life depends on it.

If your weight loss obsession matches intensity with whatever you are most obsessed with in life, you’d be able to achieve it.

We all give a lot of importance to money but is health as important as wealth is? Are we prioritizing it? I recently came to know that biggest investor in Indian Stock market Rakesh Jhunjhunwala (RJ or Big Bull) can’t walk and is permanently on wheel chair. What’s all that ten or twenty thousand crore worth when you can’t even take a walk. A person who is healthy and has money to maintain a healthy lifestyle is much more wealthy than RJ to me.

I feel happy to be able to balance my lifestyle. Health, a job which I enjoy on most days, I don’t have to worry about having a beer or two or eating a piece of cake or kabab. I’d not want to let go any of it and do everything to maintain my lifestyle.

My obsession still remain same even today barring bit relaxed eating, which I can afford. Still follow a minimum 6 days a week gym routine. 35–40 KM running, ~100,000 step count, ~75 Km distance covered, ~12000 active calories, these are my routine weekly numbers. More or less this has been the case for last 4 years now and I absolutely love it.

I feel sad with people fighting countless health problems which can easily be tamed by a healthy lifestyle but sadly people are more concerned with accumulating wealth and giving it to doctor or hospitals and not able to enjoy most of the wealth they create for themselves. People prefer working long hours which might pay them a little extra, at the cost of finding some time for exercise.

My philosophy says you can stretch your body max till 45 and if you don’t care for it, you’ll start seeing severe health effect post 45. Your mobility will start becoming restricted, more and more health issues will start surfacing. So be obsessed and do it now.
